Arigato Gozaimasu Tokyo

My Tokyo chapter for this trip is now over. What an incredible place - I don't know if I can do Tokyo justice in this post. It was absolutely incredible and I recommend it to anyone looking for their next place to visit. It is difficult to sum up the highlights but Ginza was very cool, the Tuna market did not disappoint, nor did the sushi, going up 634m at the SkyTree to see Tokyo from above was stunning but I do have to give special note to our visit to Atami. At first when I heard Hot Springs I wasn't super keen with visions of the cesspool hot springs I have seen before coming to mind. The hot springs in Atami however were breathtaking - not to mention we had our own private hot spring bath in our unit. The hotel was traditional Japanese style - you will see what I mean by this in the pictures. We were served dinner and breakfast in our room by a Geisha and got to see a live Geisha dance at night right out front of our room on an outside stage. We also visited the Museum of Art which had some incredible artifacts and a view unlike anything I have seen before. If you are looking to go somewhere for complete serenity and solitude I would highly recommend Atami - though English is very limited. I loved Tokyo, it was so clean and the people were extremely polite and organized, courteous and respectful. The toilets must get a mention in this post - I have never seen such high tech toilets anywhere - be careful of which buttons you push! There is a button for flushing noise, air, deodorizer spray, water spray, heated or cooled seat. And these toilets aren't just in the 5 star hotels, they are everywhere, metro stations, restaurants, homes....everywhere. Thank you Tokyo and thank you  so much Mr and Mrs. Shuto for the incredible experience. I hope you make it up to Canada for a visit soon!
