Good day today, it only rained briefly over lunch hour and was beautiful this evening! On my way to the pool I spotted a small night market so I found my way through there - very cool but sensory overload! And top moment of the day has to go to me stumbling blindly into a string of raw beef livers and tripe in my attempt to dodge a scooter riding down the isles in the market! Mmmm... The burn of chlorine on my skin from the pool never felt so good and refreshing after that encounter. On my walk home I came across a street festival, dragon costumes, marching bands and TONS of fireworks. Not sure what the occasion was but it was neat to see. I also was a hero at the pool today! haha so funny they all stopped and watched and clapped for me at the end (if only they knew how slow i was back home). One of the couples at the pool asked me to teach them to swim in exchange they will teach me some Taiwanese - sure! Main lesson of the day... Kids in North America would be very disheartened here to follow the sounds of an ice cream truck as we know it. Turns out it is the garbage trucks and not the ice cream trucks that play music as they drive along. I had my first green onion pancake...life changing. I had no idea it could be so delicious - props to Casey for recommending those, it will definitely be part of my Taipei menu. Other than that, over the 2 days since my last post the doctors have really warmed up and I am learning lots. I got to work with Dr. Guo again today and he is incredible and I am learning so much about internal medicine from him I can't wait to bring it all home and put it to use. Tomorrow is a new day - the Minister of Health is visiting the hospital and wants to meet with me. So on that note I'm packing it in so I can be fresh in the morning to hopefully represent Canada well ;) Miss you all and there will be more stories to tell I'm sure after this weekend!
